A rich landowner named Carl often rode around his vast estate so he could congratulate himself on his great wealth. One day, while riding around his estate on his favorite horse, he saw Hans, an old tenant farmer. Hans was sitting under a tree when Carl rode by.
Hans said, "I was just thanking God for my food."
Carl protested, "If that is all I had to eat, I wouldn't feel like giving thanks."
Hans replied, "God has given me everything I need, and I am thankful for it."
The old farmer added, "It is strange you should come by today because I had a dream last night. In my dream a voice told me, 'The richest man in the valley will die tonight.' I don't know what it means, but I thought I ought to tell you."
Carl snorted, "Dreams are nonsense," and galloped away, but he could not forget Hans' words: "The richest man in the valley will die tonight."
He was obviously the richest man in the valley, so he invited his doctor to his house that evening. Carl told the doctor what Hans had said.
After a thorough examination, the doctor told the wealthy landowner, "Carl, you are as strong and healthy as a horse. There is no way you are going to die tonight."
Nevertheless, for assurance, the doctor stayed with Carl, and they played cards through the night. The doctor left the next morning and Carl apologized for becoming so upset over the old man's dream.
At about nine o'clock, a messenger arrived at Carl's door. "What is it?"Carl demanded.
The messenger explained, "It's about old Hans. He died last night in his sleep."
GospeLines Prayer:Father, if I should die before I wake and You will claim my soul in glory, I will not be able to buy my way into your heaven; and I cannot ask to be allowed into your presence because of my good works. It is upon your great mercy that I can stake my claim to eternal reward.I am rich indeed!

"When you don't know what to pray for"
"Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God's Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don't know how or what to pray, it doesn't matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God. That's why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good."
(Romans 8:26-28 - The Message)
How often have I shared with someone – and said to myself – "I don't know what to pray for."It is probably true for most of us; the words don't come easily or they're entangled in our emotions. It seems I get on my knees and I'm just there.Or other times, wherever I make my sanctuary… I cry out, but nothing is audible.
Thank God He knows our heart because during my trials, I often am at a loss for words. But, the Spirit brings to mind a certain passage, a certain hymn or the words from a hymn.I meditate on the words or hum the hymn when I find I am anxious or afraid.
GospeLines Prayer:I thank you God for being my strength and my refuge when my world is crumbling.I thank you for your steadfastness. You see, there are times when I feel I'm in the Garden alone, but you walk with me and you talk with me and you tell me I am your own. When I fumble and even stumble, you pick me up and comfort me in the way only our loving Father can.
There were wars and rumors of wars.Out of the hearts of the people came evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, and slander.False prophets appeared and deceived many people.Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of many had grown cold. And the people cursed the darkness.
So was the condition of the world 2,000 years ago.
In the midst of this darkness, a true light that gives light to every man came into the world. "I am the light of the world.Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." (John 8:12)
God was in the world; and, though the world was made by Him, many in the world did not recognize Him.
There are wars and rumors of wars.Out of the hearts of the people come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, and slander.False prophets appear and deceive many people.Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of many has grown cold. And the people curse the darkness.
So is the condition of the world today.
Jesus brought light into the world 2,000 years ago. This same Jesus is coming back; however, He did not leave us in the dark.He promised that His light will be with us always (Mathew 28:20).The Holy Spirit has been sent to us to remind us of His light so we do not have to be afraid (John 14:25-27).
Don't put His light under a bowl; instead; rejoice, and put it on a stand where everything exposed by it will become visible.
As we celebrate the coming of The Light into the world, let's make a new commitment, a new covenant with our Lord to spread His light to all around us.
"Wake up, O sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you." (Ephesians 5:14)
“…I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but byMe.”
